Egyptian Women Vs. Men


Once before I read an article on a “ Campus Magazine” by “ Marwa Rakha “ that talked about existing of men in Egyptian women life , from old heritage traditional quotes and wises that passed through generations till now .
The writer collect all quotes that relates about how women should handle men and the idea of getting marry ( The most important thing for Egyptian girls ) , The writer wrote the original quotes in Arabic and its translation into English , so I’ll republish it with no change …
She who sleeps on her back (passive in bed) is not worth the money he paid for her dowry.
اللى نايمة على ظهرها ماتستاهل مهرها.                                                                                                                   
She who disobeys her husband does not deserve to eat the food he provides.
اللى تعصى جوزها و ما تسمع كلمته ما تستاهل تاكل لقمته                                                                                             
Marry a sugar daddy not a young heart-breaker.
خدى شايب يدلعك ولا تاخدى صبى يلوعك.

ضل راجل ولا ضل حيطة.

الرجالة غابت والستات سابت.

اللى جوزها يحبها الشمس تطلع لها.

أقل الرجال يغنى النسا.

قيدها بقيد من حديد وجوزها فى بيت السعيد.                                                                                                               
Break a woman’s rib (to discipline her) and she will grow 24 (after she is disciplined).
اكسر للبنت ضلع يطلع لها 24.                                                                                                                              
A good bride thinks well and eats little.
العروسة بعقلها و قلة أكلها.                                                                                                                                    
Get married: he will be guard at night and a handyman in the morning.
خدى لك راجل بالليل غفير و بالنهار اجير.                                                                                                                
With your money you shall marry the sultan’s daughter.
بفلوسك بنت السلطان عروسك.

ابويا وطانى وجوزى علانى.

أخد الغندور ولو سكنى وسط القبور.

البنت ياتسترها يا تقبرها.                                                                                                                                     
She, who has a husband, has the world wrapped around her finger.
اللى جوزها معاها تدور الدنيا بصابعا.                                                                                                                      
Better my husband’s hell than my father’s heaven.
نار جوزى ولا جنة أبويا.                                                                                                                                     
Sought by many; truly sought by none.
من كتر خطابها بارت.                                                                                                                                         
Cherished by her husband; cherished by all.
اللى يقول لمراته يا هانم الناس تقابلها ع السلالم.                                                                                                          
If you have a daughter you will worry until the day you die.
يامخلفة البنات يادايخة للممات.                                                                                                                                
For my personal opinion I’m not with all of this quotes, but it’s a part of the Egyptian culture; I think it should change  ,but the most important thing changing coming from all Egyptian women before the society .
